What We Offer
All-Female Coaching Staff
At Tore Training we recognize the importance and influence that coaching staff can have on athletes. This is why we focus on female-run sessions, allowing athletes to learn and grow from others who share similar experiences to them.
Personalized Sessions
No two players are the same; this is why we aim to personalize training as much as possible. Smaller group size and position-specific coaches allows for our athletes to gain the most out of our training.
More than an athlete
At Tore Training, we emphasize a “more than an athlete” attitude. We aim not just to help our athletes grow into better players but also better people. We encourage positive communication between players and coaches, as well as create a supportive environment for all athletes.
5:1 Player to Coach Ratio
Allowing for more personalized training, more focused on the athlete, and better detail in the training session
50/50 Split of Skating and Skills
Sessions will be split into two sections, with one half being focused solely on skating and edge work, and the other half designated for skill-based drills and position-specific training.
MENTAL PERFORMANCE
Being an athlete goes beyond the sport
Maddy Walsh, MSc - Mental Skills Coach
Master’s of Science in Kinesiology with a Specialization in Athlete Mental Health
Maddy, the creater or Tore Training, recently completed her Master’s of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in athlete mental health. Her thesis focused on post-injury recovery and the psychological impacts injuries have on athletes, and she is looking to improve an athlete's return-to-play protocol to ensure all athletes are both mentally and physically ready when returning to competition.
She is currently working towards her mental performance coach certification, but in the meantime is able to help athletes with mental skills work. Having worked with the Brock rowing team, fencing team and tennis team as a skills coach, she is able to help athletes who are looking to further their game both on and off the ice.
With her background and understanding of mental performance and the psychological challenges athletes face, Maddy aims to create a safe, positive environment for athletes to grow not just their physical skills but also their mental skills.
